Since its inauguration in 2011, the Hellenic Dairies factory in Brasov has gone through a steady process of upgrading and modernization. With almost EUR 200 million invested to date, the factory producing dairy under the Olympus brand was constantly equipped with the latest production technologies, as well as with systems that align it with the highest sustainability standards. This ongoing effort also allowed the company to constantly increase its raw milk reception capacity. Currently, Hellenic Dairies – owner of Fabrica de Lapte Brasov – has a milk collection capacity of over 1 million liters per day, and is a leader in collecting milk from local farmers.
The 2024 highlight for Olympus Romania was the inauguration of its new logistics center. Following a EUR 40+ million investment, the new center, with a 13,500 sqm area, represents a long-term commitment to the local and international markets, as well as a new wave of support for local farmers. The new center, equipped with state-of-the-art technology that streamlines logistics processes, reduces energy consumption and ensures the highest standards in work safety, is also equipped with one of the largest high-bay cold warehouses in Romania. With a footprint of only 6,000 square meters, the new high-bay warehouse can store up to 32,000 pallets of products under controlled temperature conditions (2-4 degrees Celsius). This vertically developed building design was chosen with environmental protection in mind, as a conventional warehouse of the same capacity would have required up to six times more space.
The entire logistics hub was designed to offer the highest level of efficiency with the lowest environmental impact and was equipped with the latest equipment for transport and automation. The latter includes cranes that operate with minimal human intervention, autonomous transport robots – LGV (Laser Guided Vehicles) and intelligent conveyor belts for sorting and transport. All of these assist the hub staff with a high degree of precision, facilitating work, reducing errors and making all operations more energy efficient.
The new hub is also set to enhance the agility of local production and distribution while strengthening the Olympus brand’s position in Romania and other European countries, including Germany, France, the UK, Italy, and Sweden.

As one of the largest dairy producers in the region, Fabrica de Lapte Brașov is a strategic objective in the group’s development and expansion.
The Olympus brand has entered several new markets in the past 10 years, introducing a full range of dairy, plant-based products, and refreshments. As the brand quickly gained consumer trust due to the quality the Greek company has been providing for over 70 years, investments are a must while Hellenic Dairies continues to expand.

Given the group’s close ties with Romania and its expansion plans in Europe, Fabrica de Lapte Brasov represents a critical component in Hellenic Dairies’ development strategy. In the coming years, company representatives state that continuous modernization of production lines, development of product portfolio and sustainable production will remain top priorities. Future investments will focus on the group’s climate action objectives, particularly by expanding renewable energy capacity.
